Knitting ideas
Hi mom, hi jacque--
I have attached photos of some knitted items. One is a girls baby blanket in pick from a knitting book I have. The other knitted items come from the book i have on loan from the local library-- Mason - Dixon knitting. The big blanket is called "Moderne Log Cabin" and one is of a log-cabin type rug, and the other is a flying geese pattern blanket. Oh, and the last photo is of a knitted bench cushion

Cursed by cats
I love my cats.
I really do.
Really.
But last night (this morning) they were pushing their luck. Usually they sleep through the night, like me.
But not last night.
Last night it was run, jump, tackle and wrestle, back and forth from the end of the hall to my bedroom.
Nonstop.
For two hours, I swear.
I briefly contemplated dropping them out of a 2nd floor window.
Here is a picture of one of the culprits, Thelma Louise.

Crafty Projects
HI MOM!
Here are some pictures-- one is a photo of the twinset I was raving about in the interweave knitting magazine.
Another is a photo of your hand me down shorts with the ventilation hole sewn shut--my first use of the bernina on its new table. And then of course, you have the cute cat pictures. What would a post be without a few cute cat pictures?

Ode to satsuma
New stash stuff
I visited my local Joann's store over the weekend to try and complete the basic necessities of a knitter's toolbox. Picked up a cable needle, some double-pointed needles, a cheap pair of circulars for practice, and straight needles in sizes 5, 6 7, 8 and 10.5. And then I found the yarn I'll use for the baby blanket. Here you see a picture of the yarn, a sample showing the yarn in stockinette and then in reservse stockinette.

dog days of spring
Isn't this a great photo? These past few days have been unseasonably hot--in the low 90s and it has taken its toll. The cats have sought out the best places to lay tummy up and catch the edge of the breeze from the ceiling fans. This is a picture of my cat, Thelma, lounging on top of my computer desk hutch, waking up after a nap.

A convocation of cats
The other night, my house was a magnet for cats. I have two indoor cats, Thelma and Vinnie. But there are also a number of neighborhood outdoor cats: Sophie, a longhair orange marmelade, Bob--a big old tiger tom, an unnamed orange shorthair, and Whiskers. The other night, all but Bob were napping on my back deck in the 90 degree heat--much to the consternation of the indoor cat children.

Knitting Fever
Well, my mom recently taught me the basics of knitting, and now I have the bug. I have been practicing my knitting and purling stitches and combinations thereof. I promised myself that if I exercised three days in a row, that I could then get a couple of knitting books. Knitting books here I come.

Cross stitch fever
Hi Everyone--
School is out, summer is around the corner, and I finally have time to stitch. Yeah! I have several projects in the works and others I need to start--a Lizzie Kate Project for my mom, two Shepherd's Bush stockings (one for each nephew) and the Drawn Thread's Sampler Game Board for myself.
And I have also decided to learn now to knit. My mom has taught me the basics, and now I am just going to practice the knitting and the purling. From all of this practice I hope to be able to knit Harry Potter scarves for my two nephews.
I also want to post a plea for help: my mom saw a cross stitch pattern called "Fox Hollow" by Bent Creek stitched up in a shop this past week and wants to get her hand on the pattern. This pattern is out of print, but if you have the pattern and would be willing to part with it or if you would be willing to make a copy of your copy and mail it to me (I would happily reimburse you for your copy and shipping costs) I would greatly appreciate it. I hope to get a copy of it without telling my mom, so I can stitch it for her for her birthday (sneaky me).
